A new combo mosaic and brioche stitch pattern. I'm calling this one "Key to The Mint"
I have worked it up in a cowl, using DK weight cascade wool (black) and my reclaimed sweater fingering weight, that I dyed with food coloring. I love the color combination.
I know these combo brioche and mosaic patterns work fine for cowls and scarves, but I'm wondering, would you wear other types of finished objects worked up in these designs? For example, can you see this pattern worked up in a sock, maybe with a plain striped heel? How about a vest, a cape, or a shawl?
I'd love some feedback on how you would consider wearing these stitch patterns. Anyone who provides a comment will get a complementary copy of the finished pattern that results.
I'd love to see it in a hat pattern or a scarf. I stumbled upon your site here and just love your designs and what you've done using both the mosiac and brioche stitches. Kudos!! Michelle
ReplyDeleteThank you! I will definitely release a cowl/scarf pattern with this design, and I like the idea of using it as maybe a band on a hat. Please let me know which of my paid patterns you would like - I'll either send you the pdf or gift it to you in Ravelry.
DeleteI love the Brioche stitch, but I've not done much brioche knitting. The Brioche stitch I've knitted is a vintage stitch and must be a variation -- with one color yarn thruout. I wonder how this would look as a placemat? (I also love geometric shapes in knitting.
ReplyDeleteI received your site link thru MarilynsKnittingHeavenOnEarth. Thank you!
Hi Jan,
DeleteThanks for the comment! I have found that there are so many variations of the brioche technique, the possibilities are endless. I think this would work well as a placemat or table runner. Typically I have better luck with wool fiber and this technique, but I think it would work ok in cotton or linen if the gauge was a bit tighter. Let me know which of my paid patterns you would like and I will either send you the pdf or gift it to you in Ravelry - your choice!
